How do I post my location on facebook

Adding location to Facebook is a great way to bring your Facebook marketing to a local level and promote your Facebook page for free. It allows you to connect and interact with customers who are in and around your area. Letting people know where you are also encourages communication at a more intimate level and invites greater engagement. Plus, users who are seeking out posts pertaining to their town or city will easily be able to find your post after using the search bar, so your post may gain traction much more quickly.
You may be asking, “How do I add a location to Facebook?” Thankfully, it’s a lot easier than it sounds, and we’ve got a handy guide (with screenshots!) detailing how to add location to Facebook—regardless of what you’re posting!

Add Location to Facebook Photo

If you are posting a photo, particularly a photo of an event, you may wish to tag it with a location so that viewers know where the photo was taken. People always want to know where an event is being held for example, as the event’s proximity to them will influence whether they go or not.
To add a location to a photo, navigate to the photo. Then tap the “Add Location” button.

You can either choose your location by tapping on it, or by typing in the name of your location in the search bar that will appear with the pop-up. Then press “Done” or “Done Editing.”

Add Location to Facebook Mobile

Sometimes, you’ll be forced to post its company’s Facebook page remotely. Whether you are traveling or working an event, Facebook Mobile comes in handy for on-the-go posting. If you want to add location to Facebook mobile, you’ll first have to do some finagling with your phone. Navigate to your phone’s settings and be sure that Location Services are enabled. This will allow you to fully use Facebook’s location options.
On mobile, you have two options for location. You can add a location to a post or “check in” at a location. To add a location to a post or photo, simply the follow the same steps as above.
To check into a nearby location, scroll to the top of your News Feed and select “Check In.”

You can either select a place from a list of places nearest you, or you can search for one using the search bar.
In addition to checking in, you also have the option to write a status update if you wish. Once done, tap “post” and you’re good to go! While check-ins are most common with mobile users, you can check in from a laptop or desktop computer as well. Simply go to touch.facebook.com in your browser.
If you’re interested in seeing your recent check-ins as well as your friends’ check-ins, Facebook has a solution for you as well. On the home screen, simply click on the icon called “Places.” From there, you can see a list of your recent check-ins, find out more about your friends’ check-ins (locations, descriptions, reviews, and more), or check yourself into a location.

How to Add Location in Facebook Messenger

Facebook messenger will only include your location if you are using the Facebook Messenger mobile app. Your location will actually be included automatically. Unfortunately, there is no way to change this location—the Facebook messenger app will locate your phone via GPS and indicate your location based on where your phone is physically located at that moment. In other words, if you’re typing a message in Dallas, Texas, your messages on the messenger app will show up as “sent from Dallas.”
While there is no way to alter your location, you can opt not to include a location in Facebook Messenger at all. If you are an iPhone user, you’ll have to change your mobile phone’s settings in order to do so. Go to Settings >Location Services, and turn location off for Facebook Messenger.
1. Go to Settings

Add Location to Facebook Page

If you want to add an address to your Facebook page, your company’s Facebook Page’s category must be listed under Companies & Organizations or Local Businesses. You can only have one address for your page at a time. To add an address, click “About” below your Facebook Page’s cover photo. Select “Page Info,” then “Address.” From here, you are free to edit the Address section as you wish.
If you own a brick and mortar business, setting up Facebook Places with your Facebook page is a great way to generate buzz. You’ll want to set up your own Places Page for your business so that your customers can tell their friends that they are at your store, restaurant, or event. Your Facebook Places Page can be a valuable tool for your business.
In order to set up a Places page for your business, someone must create a Facebook Place for your it first. This can be done by either you or a customer. A Facebook Place is created when a user attempts to check into a business that doesn’t have a Places Listing yet. The user is then able to create a Location for the place they are attempting to check into.
After your Place is created, whether by you or by a customer, you can claim it for your business. You may find that there are several Places have already been created for your business’s page. As the owner of the business, you are able to, and should, claim all of them. Then delete the irrelevant ones and keep only one Place which will represent your business, and which your future customers can check into. It’s important to keep just one Place because this keeps customer check-ins uniform and accurate.
To Create Your Place:
  1. From a GPS-enabled device, go to Facebook’s search bar and search for your business name.
  2. If you don’t see your business name anywhere, this means that no one has tried to check yet. Either way, you can still create an official Places Page.
  3. Tap “check in” and begin typing in the desired name for your Place. As the Place doesn’t exist yet, you’ll be prompted to add a new location, which you can do by tapping on the name you just typed.
  4. A screen with a map of your location will appear. Tap the “Add” button in the right corner.
  5. Done!
To claim all the Places that already exist for your business (i.e. the ones other people have created), do the following:
  1. Go to Facebook and search for your business in the search bar. You do not need a GPS-enabled device to do this; you can do this from your desktop.
  2. If your business already has a Place that exists on Facebook, click it in order to visit its page.
  3. Click the link named “Know the Owner” in the left column. Alternatively, you may click the gear icon underneath the cover photo and select “Is This Your Business?” A popup window will appear.
  4. Click the pop-up window, which is a verification checkbox, and select “Proceed with Verification.”
  5. Enter your business’s information and click continue. You will have to provide the following information to Facebook: your business’s official name, address, telephone number, website, and third-party listing (such as a Yelp Account or Better Business Bureau listing). You will be also asked to state your relationship with the business (ex: Owner).
  6. Verify your business. You will be asked to verify that you are the owner of the business through an email or document-verification process. Depending on which option you choose, you will either have to provide a business email address, or scan and submit documents that include the business’s name and address. ‘
Facebook may take several hours to verify that you are the owner of your business. Once verified, you will own all the Places on Facebook you claimed, and you can start reeling in more visibility local likes for your Facebook page.
