This teaches you how to change the overall language on your Android phone or tablet, as well as how to change your Android keyboard's input language.
1
Changing the Display Language
-
1Open your Android's Settings . This app resembles either a purple gear or a purple box with switches on it.
- You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu and then tap in the top-right corner of the menu.
-
2Scroll down and tap Languages & input. It's a globe-shaped icon near the middle of the Settings menu.[1]
- On a Samsung Galaxy phone, you'll instead tap General management which is next to the image of sliders , then tap Language and input.
-
3Tap Languages. This option is at the top of the screen.
-
4Tap Add a language. It's the bottom option on the page; you'll see a + next to it.
-
5Select a language. Tap the language that you want to use for your Android's menus and stock apps.
-
6Select a variation of the language. When prompted, tap the version of the language that you want to use.
- Some languages won't have this option. If you find yourself back at the "Language" page, skip this step.
-
7Move the language to the top of the menu. Tap and hold the far-right corner of the language, then drag it to the top of the menu.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, you'll first tap EDIT in the top-right corner before dragging the language.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, you can also tap EDIT in the top-right corner, check the box next to the undesired language, and tap DELETE in the top-right corner to remove it.
